I use my mac on light mode and only activate dark mode for whatsapp and maybe one or two other apps, but they simply removed the setting to override it for the app. but to my surprise (not actually, since, apparently, this is the norm nowadays) the theme override setting has been removed, with no option available anywhere to set it different from the operating system. Whatsapp desktop asked me to download a new update to get access to Group Call or something, so I downloaded and installed the new update, the UI was also updated by moving the tabs to the left side.
